But yeah, there was another— someone else I— [ knew? Was friends with? Was in a contract with? Kinda liked? ] —met there. His name was Shinjiro Aragaki. He wouldn't tell me too much, but, he had a Persona, and he wasn't working alone, as far as I could tell.

As far as I know, he was. He got there a few days after… after you disappeared. He was really open about what he could do, too. He didn't seem to care about hiding it from everyone like we do.
[ And a teddy bear… it's about as believable as a talking cat, so she takes his word for it. Ren might be a joker (!!), but Souji is painfully straightforward— if he says there's a teddy bear, there's a teddy bear. ]
It could be because his teammates are here. You have no idea how hard it was trying to get Ryuji to keep a lid on it after you and Makoto were gone— he wanted to tell everybody. But keeping everything a secret was what was keeping all of us safe. He might just be trying to protect them, the way we protect each other.
It makes sense. If people find out about our identities, we can't really go around as the Phantom Thieves with everyone knowing. You can use your Personas here, by the way. Even our weapons act like real ones. I've found I can reload my bullets every time I transform.
[It seems almost laughable to add "oh by the way you can use all your superhuman powers here," but weighing against everything else it was something they could return to later.]
Souji knew about you and Ryuji when we spoke...that's how he convinced me to trust him.

We ended up getting pretty close… [ In more ways than one. ] He showed up as soon as you'd disappeared, so we were all feeling a little lost. Finding more people with the same powers as us was kind of comforting, in a way. We wanted to stick together.
[ She shifts a little, to cross her legs. ] That actually reminds me— in Duplicity they had the ability to limit our powers. They could even take them away, if they wanted to. Can they do that here?
