Indeed. [He lets her take the net to examine it, frowning.] There are little sprites around here making a nuisance of themselves, causing mischief and stealing things. Including food!
[Truly unforgiveable! There's only room for one hungry thief here.]
Food, huh… [ She trails off thoughtfully, hefting the weight of the net between both of her hands. The thought of some little creature making off with a crepe crosses her mind…
They must be stopped. ] I have an idea.
[ Ann passes the net back to Yusuke and pulls her back off of her shoulder, rooting around in it for a moment before brandishing a few cookies, wrapped in a plastic baggie. ]
What if we use these? Set them up as bait, and lure them… think that'll work?
[ She'd been saving those to snack on later, but… she did end up costing him a catch. ]
[ She's hurrying!! Sprites are fast, but an annoyed teenage girl is faster! She could just give Yusuke the cookie that was meant as bait, but that's beside the point— it's the princple of the thing, now. They've been stolen from, and they must enact justice!
Ann rounds a corner, nearly on the sprite's heels, slowing to a stop when she realizes they've reached a dead end. The sprite and the now half-eaten cookie also seem to have noticed its predicament… not that that stops it from taking an obnoxiously large bite, chewing spitefully. ]
[The Net of Cookie Justice comes down on the sprite and he snags it, clamping a hand over the net so it can't simply fly free again. Even as he holds up the net to get a better look, it shoots them a sour look and carries on eating.]
It seems it shows no remorse... Let's return it to the store whence it came, shall we?
That's the last cookie you ever steal, buster. We're taking you downtown!
[ She's clearly enjoying this. And she's leading them out back the way they came! ]
It was the crystal shop, right? I saw a lot of people hanging around there, earlier. Guess it was because of these little guys? [ She pokes the sprite inside the net as they walk. Poke poke. ] I actually feel a little bad for it… it probably doesn't know any better.
That sounds fair. They are causing problems, but if they're stealing food, they're probably just… hungry.
[ And surely Yusuke can identify with that! Once they reach the main street again, they wind up nearly directly in front of the crystal shop. Ann picks up her pace to open the door to allow him and their 'precious' cargo through, first. ]

Bait? But they look so delicious...!
[Which is the whole idea, but try telling him that.]

Do you… want one? [ They probably don't need all of them for bait. And she has to admit, she'd been looking forward to eating them, too. ]
Here. [ She takes one out, offering it in his direction. ] One for me, one for you, one for bait?
1/2
[Yusuke smiles and takes the cookie, and of course goes to take a bite of it right away--]

W-wait! My cookie! [HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN]

Oh well. Ann to the rescue(?)! ]
Hey! That wasn't yours!
[ Yours is the other one!! ] Come on, Yusuke!
[ She's already started chasing it. Better bring the net… ]

[Hurry and avenge Yusuke's appetite, Ann!! He keeps the net to hand as he gives chase, ready to strike as soon as they have the sprite cornered.]

Oh, you're gonna pay for that! [ Get 'em, Fox. ]

[He looks down at the sprite.] Well, I don't feel sorry for it. What if it had stolen my food and I starved to death?
[Why is he talking about this like it's a very real possibility...]
no subject
[ Because it did technically steal his food. ]
It's not like I think we should let him go, or anything. I just hope whatever they're going to do with them, that it won't hurt them. Did they say?
no subject
[And Yusuke hadn't felt too strongly about the sprite's fate either way, but Ann's consideration for them has changed his mind a little.]
Perhaps we can refuse to hand this one over until we have assurances that it won't be harmed. What do you think?
