Last year? But Rise's… [ Ann's brow furrows and her hand pauses mid-air. She stares at him for a long moment, and the look on her face definitely gives the impression that she's doing some kind of math in her head, hand finally settling on a roll of double-sided tape.
They aren't from the same year. Unless this guy is totally bullshitting her, which is entirely possible; still, a stalker fan would definitely know that Rise Kujikawa graduated high school two years ago!
But then, he'd said something even more interesting: ] Inaba? Wait wait wait, you're from Inaba?
[ Nope, she still hasn't told him how the lotion is supposed to work. ]
[He sort of returns her stare, but in a way that just looks utterly confused. What is she trying to imply? He blinked rapidly at the sudden question.]
Uh, yeah? Oh right, you probably heard about the serial murders that happened last year, huh. It was definitely a crazy year. [Crazier than anyone could imagine really.]
[ The question of Rise might have to wait a bit. ]
Hold on— serial murders?! Last year? [ Wouldn't she have heard about something like that? Not that she's all that up on the news, but, that sounds totally serious! ]
No, I just know someone from there. He never mentioned any murders…
Ah, sorry, my bad. [He wondered what she was told then because now he was feeling like that was the wrong thing to say... except it’s not like it didn’t happen and it wasn’t a secret either.] It’s not really something that comes up but I just assumed that’s what you meant?
Well, whose your friend? Inaba is a tiny town so I might know them.
[He sighs and crosses his arms.]
Well, yeah, it was. It was kind of all over the news. [Along with the kidnapping and fog.] Maybe the news didn’t reach wherever your from? Or...wait.
[Something Kanji, Naoto, and Souji had said hit him.]
Two of my friends are two years into the future of me. And I think Souji and I are like, a day or so apart. What year was it when you got here? It's 2012 for me.
So you do know them! [ Everything is starting to fall into place! ] Souji, and Kanji, and Naoto and… Chie, I think?
[ She knows they're all from the same team, just like she was a part of the Phantom Thieves— but she'd never gotten the full details about what they'd done with their Personas. They'd all been a lot more cautious about revealing their full hand in Duplicity. Here… it seemed like everyone she met had a persona. Or two, in some cases! ]
If you're from 2012… that means you're about four or five years behind where I was when I first got taken from home. No wonder you thought Rise was still in school. In your time, she would be.
[He laughed. Well, this certainly explained the confusion. Four or five years behind? Geez, when wondered what he was doing then. Five years from his time was 2017, so he’d be about 22? No, 23 since he just saw the calendar read just past June 22nd, so his 18th birthday literally just passed.
Ugh, so confusing.]
Yeah, in your time she’s still out there being Risette from what it sounds like. I’m glad!
Ann keeps him hefted at her eye level while he postures, unable to keep from smiling. It'd been ages since she'd heard that cocky tone, so she doesn't bother questioning what he can do to help that the rest of them haven't been able to. Eventually, she lowers him down enough to hug him against her chest, instead, providing him a place to rest on with her arms.
"Uh huh… is that why you were peeking into the crystal shop? Can you sense something in there?"
Morgana is more than happy to curl up and relax in Ann's arms, purring loudly despite himself. It takes him a moment to register the question but when he does he gives a small nod.
"Yeah... it's not the same feeling as treasures or anything, but it is familiar. Almost like those cards Ren could use... Not sure if there's a connection or not. It's hard to put into words but I feel like they could be useful if we ever get into a bind."
[OOC: Sorry for the delay. Life kept me super busy for a bit there.]
Something useful if they get in a bind… she doesn't feel anything from within the shop, and isn't quite sure what it could be that's making him feel that way, but it's hard not to trust Morgana's sense when it comes to these kinds of things. She has the upper hand in knowledge of Lunatia, at the moment, not to mention the ability to communicate with people…
Sounds like another job for this one-time tag-team duo.
"Wanna go in and check it out?" If it really is useful, she has the Chroma to burn.
Morgana nods, glancing around at the various crystals on display. At this point, he's not entirely sure if he's actually sensing something or if he's just fascinated by the pretty shinies. The feel this place gives off, the similarities it has with the Metaverse without being the Metaverse has thrown his senses quite a bit.
"Yeah, that'd probably be for the best. Even if it turns out to be nothing, can't hurt to look around."
"Guess you've gotta leave the talking to me." At least it won't involve her having to act…
She moves to open the door and take the both of them inside, letting the door close behind the two of them. The inside is pretty much as expected— displays of crystals fill the small shop, which the rabbit-eared shopkeep watches over. They seem to keep an eye on the two of them as Ann wanders closer to one of the displays to read the descriptions set up in front of the crystals— and to bring Morgana close enough to inspect them, too.
She keeps her voice at a whisper. "It says they store demichroma… so it's… kind of like a coin purse?"
[ Not that she can really do that out in public, but, the option is there. She smiles to be reassuring, then places a hand on the net to lift and inspect it herself. ]
Uhh… no pests. Was that what you were trying to catch with this? [ She shakes the pole a little. ]
Indeed. [He lets her take the net to examine it, frowning.] There are little sprites around here making a nuisance of themselves, causing mischief and stealing things. Including food!
[Truly unforgiveable! There's only room for one hungry thief here.]
Food, huh… [ She trails off thoughtfully, hefting the weight of the net between both of her hands. The thought of some little creature making off with a crepe crosses her mind…
They must be stopped. ] I have an idea.
[ Ann passes the net back to Yusuke and pulls her back off of her shoulder, rooting around in it for a moment before brandishing a few cookies, wrapped in a plastic baggie. ]
What if we use these? Set them up as bait, and lure them… think that'll work?
[ She'd been saving those to snack on later, but… she did end up costing him a catch. ]
[ She's hurrying!! Sprites are fast, but an annoyed teenage girl is faster! She could just give Yusuke the cookie that was meant as bait, but that's beside the point— it's the princple of the thing, now. They've been stolen from, and they must enact justice!
Ann rounds a corner, nearly on the sprite's heels, slowing to a stop when she realizes they've reached a dead end. The sprite and the now half-eaten cookie also seem to have noticed its predicament… not that that stops it from taking an obnoxiously large bite, chewing spitefully. ]
[The Net of Cookie Justice comes down on the sprite and he snags it, clamping a hand over the net so it can't simply fly free again. Even as he holds up the net to get a better look, it shoots them a sour look and carries on eating.]
It seems it shows no remorse... Let's return it to the store whence it came, shall we?
